A NEW GENERATION
As a new generation of consoles make their way to people’s living rooms we should take the time to reminisce on the generation that gave us arguably some of the most exciting moments in gaming.
ZoriaZone will be doing a podcast commemorating some of the biggest titles and moments in gaming from the PS3, 360, and Wii era before the year is over and we want you to be a part of it.
• Choose 10 titles from this generation
(handhelds are included - PSP, DS, 3DS, Vita, Android, iOS - as well as any title from November 22nd, 2005 up until November 15th, 2013)
• Unfortunately, we cannot include HD releases of games that were a part of past generations of gaming (Silent Hill, Sly Cooper, Resident Evil, Kingdom Hearts, etc.)
, whether they be physical and/or digital only. I think we can all agree there are a lot of classics that were rereleased and it wouldn’t be fair to the new IP’s, which is our main focus.
• Speaking of, digitals are also eligible for the top 10
. There were lots of amazing games released digitally, especially indie titles, that certainly deserve a top 10 mention. So include them if you’d like!
• Choose your top 10 accordingly
. #1 on your list being your favorite game of the generation. If you’re the type of person to not pick favorites, then look at the #1 spot as being the most fun you’ve had. Perceive it however you’d like to help narrow down your top 10.
• One of the most important things is diversity
. We want to speak to eclectic gamers who understand gaming for what it is. Have an open mind when choosing these games. We don’t want any bullshit “Well I couldn’t shoot stuff so it’s automatically gay to me” type attitudes. A proper top 10, from a proper gamer, would have at least one game from every genre. But, hey, it’s your list. Do what you want. Just don’t expect to get on and speak with us when your top 10 consists of every installment of the Call of Duty franchise. You do not play games. You play game. Singular. We want gamers. Knowledgeable ones, too.
• When the podcast begins and you happen to be one of the gamers contributing to the conversation, be respectful of everyone’s decisions
. After naming the number and its corresponding title, the person speaking will elaborate on why the particular title was put at the particular slot, hopefully with meaning and merit, rather than “it was fun”. We really want you to delve into why the game connected with you whether it be on a personal level or whatever. Have merit behind your decisions.
• MMO’s do not count
. MMO’s aren’t necessarily generational. They continue to go until the publisher/developer decides to pull the plug. These could last through multiple generations. World of Warcraft, for example, has seen 6th, 7th, and now 8th generation consoles.
• Last but not least, you may have up to THREE honorable mentions
